The Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry held Its 30th meeting with regional representatives

The Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry held its 30th meeting with regional representatives. Participants discussed key issues of industrial cooperation and familiarized themselves with the products of one of the country’s machine-building enterprises.

During the meeting, Georgy Arzumanyan, Deputy Director of the Department of Industrial Policy at the Eurasian Economic Commission, presented a financial support mechanism for industrial cooperation among enterprises within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The mechanism was approved at the intergovernmental level in July 2024.

According to Georgy Arzumanyan, the main goal of the initiative is to stimulate technological development, create new production models within the EAEU member states, and form value chains. One of the conditions for participation in the program is cooperation among at least three EAEU member states, and the manufactured products must be of industrial origin in the union’s member states.

Fifteen financial organizations and institutions in Kazakhstan may participate in the implementation of the mechanism, which will expand entrepreneurs’ access to financing for joint projects.

Later in the meeting, representatives of Sigma Corporation LLP — Kazakhstan’s sole manufacturer of telecommunications cable joints — presented the company’s operations. Sales Department Head Artem Mikhailovsky and Quality Management Department Head Alexandra Kitaeva presented the company’s product line and range of goods, highlighting competitive advantages and plans to expand production.

The company is located in the city of Saran in the Karaganda region and manufactures up to 500 product items. Its supply network covers Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, and Mongolia. The main customers include the ERG Group, Qarmet, JSC “Kazakhtelecom,” Kazakhmys, Kazzinc, Bogatyr Komir LLP, and JSC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy.”

In turn, Talgat Bazarbekov, Director of the AKMI Executive Directorate, briefed participants on the work carried out by the Association over the past week. In particular, recommendations developed following the 12th Forum of Kazakhstan Machinery Manufactures are being refined to ensure domestic enterprises have access to affordable raw materials.

During the week, meetings and online conferences were held with representatives of the Industry Committee and the Department of Industrial Policy of the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as Qazindustry JSC. The issue of amending the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Industrial Policy” is under discussion. The current list of raw materials includes non-ferrous metallurgy products; however, ferrous metallurgy raw materials remain relevant for machine-building enterprises. It is planned to compile the list not based on requests from enterprises, but based on an analysis of domestic production.

At the same time, work is underway to refine information on prices for raw materials exported abroad, with the priority task of ensuring that Kazakhstani enterprises have access to affordable resources.

In addition, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan and JSC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy,” changes are being developed to the rules for the technical operation, maintenance, and repair of rolling stock regarding the use of new domestically produced spare parts during the overhaul of railcars.
