Every year the AKMI holds the Forum of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan and the international specialized exhibition Kazakhstan Machinery Fair with the participation of international experts
The Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry was established in order to consolidate domestic enterprises for the effective development of the country's machine-building industry, assist in solving systemic problems of the industry, establish cooperation between enterprises, represent their interests in interaction with government agencies and other organizations, participate in efforts to improve legislation, regulatory sphere and technical regulation, participate in the work of experts and workers groups, commissions, as well as performing other functions, contributing to the successful operation of domestic machine-building enterprises
Cooperative relations with 11 foreign machine-building associations in Europe, Asia and South America have been established
The production volume in the mechanical engineering sector has shown steady growth since 2015. While in 2015 the figure stood at only 668 million tenge, by 2024 it had reached a historic peak of 4,835 million tenge, increasing more than sevenfold over the nine-year period.
Key trends:
For January-March 2021, the volume of exports of engineering products of Kazakhstan, amounted to 277.1 million U.S. dollars. In January-March 2021, the volume of exports of engineering products of Kazakhstan amounted to 277.1 million USD, and decreased by 11.9% compared to the same period last year (January-March 2020 - 247.7 million USD).
In January-March 2021, the machinery industry saw a 2.2-fold increase in exports of lead batteries, a 12% increase in exports of fittings other, however, exports of vehicles with internal combustion engine with spark ignition and reciprocating piston movement decreased by 75.4%, bogies and axles for railway transport by 44.6%, bearings with cylindrical rollers by 37.5%.

Currently, the Association unites about 700 participants — domestic machine-building enterprises, specialized associations and national companies.
On the initiative and with the direct participation of the Association, the comprehensive plan for the development of the machine–building industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2024-2028 was adopted (approved by the Government Decree No. 991 dated November 7, 2023) was adopted for implementation
