Association of Legal Entities "Union of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan"

The Union of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan is a non-profit association that unites about 700 machine-building enterprises

Purpose and mission

Our goal is to support and develop the domestic machine building industry, consolidate consumers and manufacturers of machine building products.

Our mission: To bring the domestic machine-building industry to a competitive and export-oriented level.

Every year the UMBK holds the Forum of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan and the international specialized exhibition Kazakhstan Machinery Fair with the participation of international experts.

Activities of the Union

The Union of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan was established in order to consolidate domestic enterprises for the effective development of the country's machine-building industry, assist in solving systemic problems of the industry, establish cooperation between enterprises, represent their interests in interaction with government agencies and other organizations, participate in efforts to improve legislation, regulatory sphere and technical regulation, participate in the work of experts and workers groups, commissions, as well as performing other functions, contributing to the successful operation of domestic machine-building enterprises

Dynamics of Mechanical Engineering Production in Kazakhstan
Dynamics of Mechanical Engineering Production in Kazakhstan (2015–2025)

The production volume in the mechanical engineering sector has shown steady growth since 2015. While in 2015 the figure stood at only 668 billion tenge, by 2024 it had reached a historic peak of 4,835 billion tenge, increasing more than sevenfold over the nine-year period.

Key trends:

  • Steady growth was observed in 2015–2021, with annual increases ranging from 10% to 30%.
  • In 2022–2023, the industry reached a new level: production volumes exceeded 3 trillion tenge, and in 2023 – more than 4 trillion tenge.
  • 2024 became a record year: production volume reached 4.8 trillion tenge, confirming the high demand for mechanical engineering products.
  • In January–July 2025, production volume amounted to 2.85 trillion tenge, which is 22% higher than in the same period of 2024 (2.33 trillion tenge). This indicates positive dynamics and suggests that by the end of 2025, the industry may surpass last year’s results.
Dynamics of Investments in Mechanical Engineering
Dynamics of Investments in Mechanical Engineering (2015–2025)
  • In 2015–2019, the volume of investments remained at the level of 50–60 billion tenge.
  • In 2020, the first significant surge was recorded – 74.3 billion tenge, after which the figures stayed above 60 billion tenge.
  • In 2023, a new growth stage began: the volume of investments reached 115.7 billion tenge, almost twice as much as a year earlier.
  • 2024 became a record year for the entire observed decade – 290.7 billion tenge, which is more than 2.5 times higher than the 2023 level.
  • In 2025, the positive trend continues: in January–July alone, 163.1 billion tenge was invested, almost twice the level of the same period in 2024 (85.6 billion tenge).
Dynamics of export indicators in the engineering industry
Dynamics of export indicators in the engineering industry (2015–2025)
  • In the period from 2020 to 2024, a steady growth of exports was observed: from $1.3 billion in 2020 to $4.7 billion in 2024. This represents more than a threefold increase over five years.
  • The main surge occurred in 2022 (a twofold increase compared to 2021) and was sustained in the following years.
  • In January–July 2024, exports amounted to $2.6 billion, while for the same period in 2025 they totaled $2.1 billion, indicating a decline of around 20%.
About 700 participants

Currently, the Union unites about 700 participants - domestic machine-building enterprises, specialized associations and national companies.

On the initiative and with the direct participation of the Union, the comprehensive plan for the development of the machine–building industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2024-2028 was adopted (approved by the Government Decree No. 991 dated November 7, 2023) was adopted for implementation

The Association has 18 regional representatives throughout Kazakhstan

The Union is accredited by the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Atameken".

Every year, the Union holds a Forum of machine builders of Kazakhstan with the participation of foreign delegations and representatives.

The Union is open for new members to join it. Enterprises can join the Union as participants with the right to a decisive vote or as associated participants with the right to an advisory vote.
