Railways Systems KZ and “Passenger Transport” have completed a major fleet upgrade

The fleet of JSC “Passenger Transport” has been expanded with 17 45th-series compartment cars, thereby completing the rolling stock upgrade under a previously signed contract with the Kazakh manufacturer RWS Wagon (ZIKSTO LLP), reports Rail-news.kz.

A total of 100 new passenger railcars were delivered to the company under the contract. The final batch was scheduled for delivery by the end of June 2026, but was handed over to Passenger Transport JSC as early as the beginning of March. This allowed the contract to be completed four months ahead of schedule.

The cars were supplied by the Kazakh manufacturer RWS Wagon (ZIKSTO LLP), part of the Railways Systems KZ railway holding. The company specializes in the production of modern passenger rolling stock and actively participates in programs to modernize the country’s railway fleet.

The new railcars are designed for various categories of passengers—families with children, seniors, tourists, and passengers with limited mobility. The level entry allows passengers in wheelchairs to board the railcar independently, and changing tables are installed in the restrooms.

“Today, passengers expect a completely different level of comfort and service. Our goal is to create cars that are comfortable for all categories of passengers. We have been collaborating with the company ‘Passenger Transport’ for a long time and strive to ensure that Kazakhstani citizens can travel in modern, world-class cars,” emphasized Sergey Pavlinger, President of the Railways Systems KZ holding company.

The executive cars feature special compartments with increased space and a private bathroom for passengers with limited mobility. Sliding doors reduce noise levels and save space, while airtight inter-car passageways help maintain a comfortable microclimate.

The cars are designed to operate in various climatic conditions. Vacuum toilets function even during extended stops, information displays operate in Kazakh, Russian, and English, and modern bogies ensure a smooth ride.

The arrival of the new cars will allow JSC “Passenger Transport” to continue improving service quality and create more comfortable conditions for passengers on Kazakhstan’s railways.
