The largest machine-building plant in the Akmola Region is celebrating its 20th anniversary, reports NUR.KZ.
KAMAZ-Engineering JSC is one of the first major and successful Kazakhstani-Russian joint ventures in the field of automotive manufacturing. This anniversary marks an important milestone in the company’s history, a symbol of the region’s industrial success, and confirmation that Kazakhstan is capable of producing world-class equipment.
"The company was founded in 2005 as a joint venture between KAMAZ PJSC and Kazakhstan Engineering JSC. On August 19 of that year, the first production vehicle rolled off the assembly line. In 2015, the 10,000th vehicle was assembled, and on January 31, 2024, the 20,000th vehicle — a KAMAZ-54901 long-haul tractor — rolled off the line. "Over two decades, the plant has produced more than 20,000 KAMAZ vehicles, which are successfully operating in virtually all sectors of the country’s economy. These include dump trucks, flatbed trucks, tractor units, crew buses, tankers for drinking and industrial water, and municipal vehicles," said Sergey Kistin, the plant’s general director.
Over the past twenty years, KAMAZ-Engineering JSC has gone from an empty workshop to one of the flagships of Kazakhstan’s machine-building industry. The company is consistently moving toward the development of innovations. Vehicles are becoming safer, more environmentally friendly, and more comfortable to operate. The payload capacity and fuel efficiency of commercial vehicles are increasing, and the use of electronic systems and innovative materials is expanding. All of this confirms the company’s focus on long-term success, according to company officials.
According to Sergey Kistina, CEO of KAMAZ-Engineering JSC, the company’s reliable partners include both state and private entities in the country. It is precisely this partnership that ensured stability during the difficult crisis years and remains one of the key factors driving production growth today.
Today, KAMAZ-Engineering comprises more than 12,000 square meters of production space, including 5,000 square meters of vehicle assembly facilities and 2,000 square meters of welding shops. Thousands more square meters are occupied by warehouses, storage areas, and logistics facilities. The plant’s production capacity is up to 10,000 vehicles per year.
The plant’s branches operate successfully in Astana and Almaty, where engineering and service operations are concentrated, work with partners is carried out, and technical support is provided. In the near future, the company plans to open a branch in Aktau, which will mark a new stage in the company’s development.
"The high quality of our products and the team’s dedication have been repeatedly recognized with prestigious awards. In 2017, the company won the regional "Best Product of Kazakhstan" competition in the "Best Industrial Products" category. In 2021, the company received a prestigious award — a gold statuette from the national "Pariz" business social responsibility competition — after winning the "Best Enterprise in Occupational Safety" category among small and medium-sized businesses. "These awards are recognition of ’s systematic work and high level of social responsibility," says Sergey Kristin.
In the Akmola Region, people know that "KAMAZ-Engineering" is not only a modern machine-building enterprise but also a center of attraction, a school of craftsmanship, and a platform for innovation. From the very beginning, strict principles have been established here: technological discipline, responsibility for every detail, and respect for labor.
"There are no random people here. Every specialist is part of a team that doesn’t just assemble vehicles, but creates reliable workhorses for the entire country. More than 300 specialists come to the plant every day to produce equipment you can rely on," emphasized Sergey Kristin.
These days, the company is receiving many congratulations on its anniversary. The regional administration and the Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Akmola Region have highly praised the enterprise. They express their sincere gratitude and appreciation for the company’s significant contribution to the region’s economic prosperity.
