Preparations are being finalized in the North Kazakhstan region for the launch of a new production workshop by ZIKSTO JSC, a member of the Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry. The implementation of the project will be an important step in the development of railway engineering in the region and will create over 300 additional jobs.
The total area of the facility is about 12,000 square meters, and the project is estimated to cost 24 billion tenge. The new workshop is equipped with modern robotic equipment, which will allow for the organization of a full production cycle for the manufacture of freight rolling stock. According to preliminary estimates, the enterprise's capacity will ensure the production of up to 3,000 railcars annually.
Danis Araslanov, Executive Director of ZIKSTO JSC, noted that the versatility of the new workshop lies in its ability to produce a wide range of products, from flatcars and gondola cars to frames and platforms of various lengths (40 and 80 feet). Maximum automation and digitalization of production processes will ensure high precision and consistent quality of manufactured products.
The workshop is already assembling bogies for freight rolling stock and has established the production of wheel sets. The necessary components – axles and wheels – are supplied by a partner company from Ekibastuz, which contributes to the development of internal cooperation and strengthens the self-sufficiency of domestic production.
The facility is scheduled to be commissioned this month. With the launch of the new facilities, the total number of employees at the enterprise will approach 1,000.
It is worth noting that ZIKSTO JSC is part of the Railways Systems KZ railway cluster, the largest full-cycle machine-building association in Kazakhstan, which unites factories in Petropavlovsk and Ekibastuz. The cluster's enterprises manufacture a wide range of products: freight cars and their components, track superstructure elements, and other products that ensure the comprehensive development of the country's railway industry.
The Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry notes that the launch of the new production workshop is an important contribution to the development of domestic machine building. The union actively interacts with member enterprises, promotes their interests at the national level, and ensures dialogue with government agencies and major customers. The implementation of projects such as the new workshop of ZIKSTO JSC directly contributes to the development of industrial cooperation and the competitiveness of domestic production.
