On August 14, a working meeting was held between Minister of Industry and Construction Yersayin Nagaspayev, Chery CEO and Vice President of Chery International Mr. Shaodong Zhu, and Astana Motors CEO Beknur Nesipbayev.
During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of industrial cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in the automotive sector.
Particular attention was paid to issues related to the localization of auto component production and the expansion of the country’s industrial base.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to use Kazakhstani components in the production of Chery models at the Astana Motors Manufacturing Kazakhstan plant in the Almaty Industrial Zone.
Yersayin Nagaspayev noted that the Ministry will continue to support strategic industrial projects and attract investment for the development of the machine-building industry, including the production of automotive parts.
In turn, Mr. Shaodong Zhu emphasized the importance of localizing production in Kazakhstan, assuring that Chery highly values its cooperation with the Republic of Kazakhstan and welcomes the policy of expanding localization.
To date, projects for the production of batteries, tires, multimedia systems, and seats have already been implemented in Kazakhstan, and work is underway on new production facilities for auto parts and components.
