On June 26, 2026, a meeting of the Mechanical Engineering and Metalworking Committee of the Presidium of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held, chaired by Yerkhanat Makanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry.

During the meeting, participants reviewed the results of the 13th Forum of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan and the Kazakhstan Machinery Fair 2026 international exhibition, discussed issues related to the implementation of the National Project “Modernization of the Energy and Utilities Sectors” (MEX), and reviewed progress on involving domestic manufacturers in nuclear industry projects.

Talgat Bazarbekov, Director of the Executive Directorate of the The Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry, briefed participants on the results of the 13th Forum of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan, which took place on April 2–3 in Astana. More than 1,500 representatives of government agencies, businesses, international organizations, and machine-building enterprises from more than 20 countries around the world took part in the Forum’s events.

The main theme of the forum was automation and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies in mechanical engineering. As part of the business program, a plenary session, panel discussions, and industry-specific breakout sessions were held, focusing on issues such as production localization, digitalization, attracting investment, workforce training, and increasing domestic value.

Following the forum, recommendations for the industry’s development were formulated and submitted to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan for further review and implementation. The recommendations were coordinated with the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, relevant government agencies, and the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan “Atameken.”

The 7th International Specialized Exhibition on Mechanical Engineering and Metalworking — “Kazakhstan Machinery Fair 2026” — brought together more than 250 exhibitors. The exhibition featured products from manufacturers in 24 countries, including Germany, Italy, Austria, Turkey, China, and others.

Year after year, the exhibition attracts an increasing number of representatives from industrial enterprises, equipment manufacturers, and industry experts from both Kazakhstan and abroad.

Participants in the meeting also discussed the progress of the National Project “Modernization of the Energy and Utilities Sectors.” Askhad Tleubayev, Head of the Domestic Value Development Department at the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan, briefed participants on the work being carried out to ensure maximum participation by domestic manufacturers in modernization projects, to develop production localization, and to improve digital procurement mechanisms.

During the discussion, Talgat Alpysbaev, General Director of “KARLSKRONA LC AB” LLP and Committee member Talgat Alpysbaev, put forward proposals for further involving domestic enterprises in the implementation of MEX projects, compiling lists of in-demand products, developing production cooperation, and improving tools for interaction between government agencies, customers, and manufacturers.

In addition, participants focused on issues related to the development of localization in the construction of a nuclear power plant. Daniyar Dzhanseitov, Director of the Department of Kazakhstani Content at the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy, reported on ongoing efforts to compile a registry of domestic manufacturers of products for the nuclear industry, create a digital platform, and implement measures to maximize the involvement of Kazakhstani enterprises in the implementation of nuclear energy projects.

The meeting also addressed measures to promote domestic value in Samruk-Kazyna’s procurement activities. Kaiyirzhan Shahmardan, Director of the Department of Registers and Domestic Value Development at Samruk-Kazyna Contract LLP, presented information on the ongoing work to develop domestic value in the procurement activities of the Samruk-Kazyna JSC group of companies.

Meeting participants emphasized the importance of further developing domestic value, expanding the participation of domestic manufacturers in major infrastructure and industrial projects, and strengthening industrial cooperation to enhance the competitiveness of Kazakhstan’s machine-building industry.
