Industry in northern Kazakhstan is showing steady positive growth and is increasingly strengthening its position in the economy. According to the results for 2025, industrial output totaled 942.4 billion tenge, reports Petropavlovsk.news.
Industrial output in 2025 exceeded the 2024 level by 19.9%. In terms of scale, industry is already approaching the figures for agriculture, indicating the region’s gradual transition from a predominantly agrarian region to an agrarian-industrial one.
This growth is driven by both the stable operation of existing enterprises and the implementation of new investment projects. The manufacturing sector remains the key driver, accounting for 87% of the industry’s total output. Its volume reached 820.1 billion tenge, with a physical volume index of 123.2%. The main contributors to this result were enterprises in the food industry and machine building.
The machine-building sector is showing particularly notable growth. For example, the production volume of ZIKSTO LLP increased by 35.8% and reached 169.8 billion tenge. Over the course of the year, the company produced 149 passenger railcars. ST ASSEMBLY LLP also demonstrated significant growth, with production volume rising by 41% to 85.7 billion tenge. Positive trends also continued at Petropavlovsk Electrotechnical Plant LLP, where growth reached 27.2%, and at Avagro LLP, which saw an increase of 53.8%.
The growth in the order backlog also indicates stable capacity utilization and a strong production foundation. By the end of the year, it increased by 12.7% to 300.7 billion tenge, compared to 262.6 billion tenge in 2024. This creates a solid foundation for further expansion of production and strengthening of the region’s industrial potential.
The positive trend continues in 2026. In January–February, industrial production in the region totaled 162.7 billion tenge. Meanwhile, manufacturing output reached 135.1 billion tenge, an increase of 35.3%.
The region expects that by the end of this year, industrial production will exceed 1 trillion tenge. This is planned to be achieved by increasing the capacity utilization of existing enterprises and launching new projects in the manufacturing sector. Investments are providing an additional boost to the sector’s development, contributing to the diversification of production, the creation of new jobs, and the expansion of the tax base. All of this confirms that the industry in the North Kazakhstan Region is becoming one of the key drivers of the region’s economic growth.
