The steady advancement of production localization is enabling Kazakhstani machine-building enterprises to master the production of high-tech products, expand their production capacity, and strengthen the country’s export potential. This was reported by the Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry.
The Association noted that one example of this approach is the Shymkent - based company Karlskrona, which over the years has established a full-cycle production process — from engineering design and foundry production to machining, assembly, testing, and after-sales service.
According to the Association, the company manufactures industrial pumping equipment, pumping stations, electrical products, and other goods for the oil and gas, nuclear, energy, and mining and chemical industries. The development of production has been facilitated by cooperation with national companies, which has enabled the company to master the production of new types of equipment and increase the level of localization.
As noted, the local content share in pumping equipment currently reaches 60–80%, and up to 90% for castings. The company is also developing its own engineering capabilities and expanding its foundry and machining operations.
In addition to the domestic market, the Kazakhstani manufacturer’s products are used in international industrial projects, including those in the nuclear industry. The company is also continuing to modernize its production facilities and train engineering personnel through joint programs with technical universities.
“Experience shows that long-term cooperation with national companies gives domestic enterprises the opportunity to modernize their production, adopt modern technologies, and expand their product range,” This contributes to the development of localization, the creation of new jobs, and the enhancement of the competitiveness of the domestic machine-building industry,” noted Talgat Bazarbekov, director of the Executive Directorate of the Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry.
According to him, the example of the Shymkent-based company demonstrates that domestic manufacturers are capable of producing goods that meet the requirements of major industrial customers and are in demand in both domestic and foreign markets.
