Minister of Transport Nurlan Sauranbayev reported on the ongoing efforts to renew the country’s railway locomotive fleet during a Government meeting.
He stated that the current locomotive fleet consists of more than 1,900 units.
“Under the renewal program, a total of 456 locomotives are planned to be purchased by 2029. The suppliers include Kazakhstani enterprises — Electrovoz Kurastyru Zauyty and Lokomotiv Kurastyru Zauyty — as well as the Chinese company CRRC,” clarified Nurlan Sauranbayev.
According to data from the American company Wabtec, the locomotives currently in operation in Kazakhstan are modern and efficient, fully meeting future transportation requirements.
