Prommashkomplekt (part of the Railways Systems KZ cluster and a member of the Kazakhstan Engineering Union) plans to start supplying railway wheels to Europe. This was announced by the company's CEO, Roman Pavlinger.
The plant is currently undergoing certification for Deutsche Bahn. This will take around two to three years, as the products must undergo operational testing in accordance with EU regulations.
It is planned that deliveries will be carried out via the Trans-Caspian international transport route – through the ports of Aktau, Baku, and further to Europe. Although this route is more expensive than the traditional route through Russia, it opens up new export opportunities for Kazakhstani products.
In 2024, Prommashkomplekt produced about 270,000 railway wheels. More than 70% of the products manufactured are exported. Most of the wheels go to Russia. The company also supplies products to the Kazakh market, receiving support from JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and JSC Kaztemirtrans.
The Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry notes that the entry of domestic enterprises into new international markets is an important step in strengthening the position of national machine building and developing the country's export potential.
