Thanks to the digitalization of production and management processes, domestic enterprises are building a new corporate culture that implies increased transparency, faster decision-making, and the development of employees focused on the continuous mastery of smart technologies. One of them is the Shymkent machine-building plant Karlskrona LC AB, a leader in the digitalization of Kazakhstan's industry and an active member of the Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry .
With more than 23 years of history, the company is a leading domestic manufacturer of pumping equipment, electrical products, and foundry products for international companies. The company's production of some products reaches 15,000 units.
Karlskrona LC AB is among the enterprises selected as a model digital factory within the framework of the Concept for the Development of the Manufacturing Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023-2029. Together with the Kazakh Industry and Export Center QazIndustry, the company is implementing a set of measures to digitize all key business processes: from production to management and customer interaction.
It is important to note that we already had our own experience of implementing digital systems and, most importantly, fundamental operating principles that have been in place for decades. It was these rules that formed the basis of our successful transition to digital production. For example, “Never digitize chaos” or “Not everything has to be automated, but everything has to be recorded.” Or ‘Respect the workshop: that's where reality is seen’. Our transition to ‘digital’ was successful because we focused on systematisation, the human factor and the consistency of technology implementation, rather than simply purchasing new software," says Talgat Alpyisbaev, CEO of Karlskrona LC AB LLP.
This year, the company developed a comprehensive digitalization strategy that defines priority areas, stages of digital solution implementation, and development targets. The document is structured according to the classic “digitalization pyramid,” reflecting the sequential development from digital data collection to intelligent management.
One of the priority areas of digital transformation is resource planning automation. At the first stage, process logic and data structure are worked out using Google Sheets. This is followed by a transition to the SPRUT-OKP system, which automatically generates plans for the utilization of equipment, materials, and components.
The next stage is the digitalization of customer interactions. To this end, the company has implemented a CRM system based on the Bitrix24 platform (corporate portal). It provides centralized information storage, order and document management, and improves internal communications between departments.
Karlskrona actively uses modern digital solutions in its production: ProCAST for modeling and forecasting casting processes, SPRUT-TP for technological preparation of production and equipment data management, Kompas-3D and SolidWorks for 3D modeling and product design. These systems make it possible to optimize technological routes, improve product quality, and shorten the design cycle.
The company believes that digital transformation is impossible without the development of human capital. Therefore, the company systematically improves the qualifications of its employees with the help of electronic training materials, video lectures, and VR complexes.
The experience of the machine-building enterprise demonstrates how a systematic approach to digitalization allows not only to automate processes, but also to build a new corporate culture. The initiatives implemented confirm the effectiveness of the Roadmap for the Digitalization of Industry and serve as an example for other enterprises.
Digitalization, or Industry 4.0, is a key factor in the growth and competitiveness of the industrial sector. It represents the integration of digital technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and big data into manufacturing processes and supply chains.
The manufacturing sector in Kazakhstan is seeing steady growth in digitalization. The share of enterprises with digital automation tools reached 19.2% in 2024. This year, the plan is to increase this figure to 23%.
The implementation of the Roadmap for the introduction of AI in large manufacturing enterprises for 2025-2026, signed by the Ministry of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan in September this year as part of the implementation of the Head of State's instructions. The document includes 41 projects for the implementation of AI projects and the training of necessary personnel. The projects cover such areas as computer vision, predictive analytics, robotics, unmanned transport, digital twins, Big Data, and generative AI assistants.
Karlskrona LC AB is an example of successful digital transformation in Kazakhstan's machine-building industry and a reliable partner of the Union of Machine Builders of Kazakhstan.
