Issues related to the digitalization of the product catalog were discussed at the Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry

The Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry held its eighth online meeting of 2026, attended by regional representatives, machine-building enterprises, and industry partners. The meeting focused on the implementation of the National Product Catalog (NPC) and the practical aspects of its application for domestic manufacturers.

Yerkhanat Makanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry, noted that the issue of NCT implementation is of fundamental importance to the machine-building industry. This week, Yerkhanat Makanov met with the leadership of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan to discuss the progress of the catalog’s implementation and the challenges faced by enterprises.

Particular attention was paid to the completion of the transition period for assigning codes under the NKT. Previously, manufacturers were given until March 1 to complete the relevant procedures.

“This issue is very important for machine builders. Starting March 1, restrictions may apply to the issuance of electronic invoices if correct codes are not provided. The goal of digitizing the economy, including industry, has been set by the Head of State and the Government,” emphasized Yerkhanat Makanov.

Meeting participants emphasized that for enterprises with a broad and non-standard product range, the issue of cataloging requires additional methodological and technical elaboration.

Serik Baiganin, Director of the Department of Digital Transformation and Product Labeling at the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, provided clarifications. He reported that amendments to the legislation on commercial activities, providing for the introduction of the National Catalog of Goods, were adopted on July 18, 2025, and the regulations came into force on January 1, 2026. The NCT is a state-run digital trade infrastructure aimed at creating a unified digital registry of goods produced in Kazakhstan and imported into the country.

The main objectives of the catalog are to standardize the product nomenclature, ensure data accuracy, track the movement of goods, facilitate digital exchange among market participants, and generate high-quality analytics. Currently, the system contains over 18 million product entries; daily data verification is conducted, duplicates are removed, and integration with fiscal data operator systems and inventory management software is being tested.

Three methods for entering information are provided: filling out a card for each unit of goods, uploading a data set, and registration via API for enterprises with a constantly updated product range. To avoid technical limitations, enterprises must ensure that their products are fully reflected in the NCT and complete the conversion of temporary XTIN codes to permanent NTIN codes. It was noted that the NCT is becoming a mandatory digital infrastructure for trade, and timely compliance with the requirements will help avoid difficulties in conducting business operations.

The meeting also featured a presentation by Profland-RT LLP. The company’s Commercial Director, Ekaterina Shepieva, presented the enterprise’s production metrics.

Founded in 2007, the company specializes in metalworking and mechanical engineering, employs 80 people, processes up to 6,000 tons of steel annually, and manufactures over 13,000 product items.
