During the conversation, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the high level of the long-standing partnership with CRRC—one of the world’s largest companies specializing in railway engineering.
The President emphasized that following his visit to China in October 2023, cooperation with CRRC has reached a new level. An agreement was reached to supply 100 mainline and 100 shunting diesel locomotives to the national company “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy.” In the near future, KTZ plans to purchase an additional 270 hybrid shunting diesel locomotives.
The head of state expressed confidence in the successful implementation of these deliveries and emphasized the importance of moving to the next stage of cooperation —the localization of locomotive production and the establishment of service centers in Kazakhstan. In his view, this will help develop the domestic machine-building industry, create new jobs, and ensure prompt technical maintenance of the railway infrastructure.
CRRC produces more than 2,000 locomotives, 3,000 passenger cars, and 50,000 freight cars annually, as well as 11,000 units of urban transport. Its products are exported to more than 100 countries worldwide.
