Development of the Machinery and Construction Industries: Almaty Mayor Conducts Working Tour of the City’s Enterprises

The mayor instructed the relevant departments to develop measures to further support the city’s industrial sector, Vecher.kz reports.

Almaty Mayor Darkhan Satybaldy conducted a working tour of industrial enterprises in the Zhetysu and Turksib districts, during which he familiarized himself with their operations, production capacities, and promising investment projects.

The mayor began his working tour with a visit to Asfaltbeton-1 LLP, located in the Zhetysu district. This is one of Almaty’s largest enterprises for the production of road construction materials. The plant produces up to 1.5 million tons of asphalt concrete mix, up to 100,000 tons of petroleum bitumen, as well as concrete mixes and stone materials.

The plant employs 700 people. The facility covers 26 hectares, 5 of which are designated for green spaces.

The next stop on the tour was the joint-stock company “Kellet,” also located in the Zhetysu District. Founded in 1992, the company manufactures a wide range of electrical products—from boilers and pumping stations to modern equipment for the utilities sector.

The company’s annual turnover is approximately 12 billion tenge, with half of its products manufactured in Kazakhstan. “Kelet” products are supplied not only to the domestic market but also to Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Belarus.

Speaking about the company’s prospects, the mayor noted:

“The development of domestic manufacturing and mechanical engineering is of strategic importance for Almaty and the country as a whole. As part of the Year of Blue-Collar Professions, we are ready to support the expansion of production and the creation of new jobs,” he said.

The final stop was the dry construction mix plant of the Alina Group, founded in 1989. Today, it is one of the leading enterprises in Kazakhstan’s construction industry. The plant has been producing dry construction mixes under the AlinEX and “NASHI” brands since 1997. The plant’s production capacity exceeds 315,000 tons of products per year, which allows it to fully meet the needs of Almaty and the southern regions of the country.

The company employs nearly 200 people. The product range includes cement and gypsum plasters, decorative coatings, self-leveling floors, adhesives, and waterproofing materials. This plant is the first of the 18 production sites currently operated by Alina Group.

Following the tour, the akim instructed the relevant agencies to develop measures to further support the city’s industrial sector, emphasizing the creation of new jobs, the adoption of modern technologies, and compliance with environmental standards.
