The Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry held its ninth online meeting of 2026, attended by regional representatives, machine-building enterprises, and industry partners. The meeting focused on government support measures for innovative projects and the development of domestic enterprises’ production capacity.
During the meeting, Anuar Tungat, Director of the Expertise Center at JSC “National Agency for Innovation Development ‘QazInnovations’,” presented the current government support tools for innovation activities.
He noted that QazInnovations serves as the national development institution in the field of innovation policy, providing analytical support for the development of the innovation ecosystem, methodological and consulting support to government agencies and businesses, as well as issuing expert opinions and recommendations on innovation-related matters.
Various support tools are available to enterprises, including innovation grants for in-house development and technology transfer, technology commercialization programs, as well as technological development projects for existing enterprises and industries.
Particular attention was paid to grant support for technology commercialization. Specifically, the first stage provides for a grant of up to 20 million tenge for product refinement and the development of a commercialization strategy for a period of up to six months, with mandatory co-financing of at least 10%.
The second stage involves grant funding of up to 80 million tenge for launching production and bringing the product to market for a period of up to 18 months. Requirements include having a production-ready product, a marketing plan, and securing investments amounting to at least 30% of the grant amount.
The meeting participants were also introduced to priority areas for support, including the manufacturing and electronics industries, Industry 4.0, robotics, new materials, space technologies, and others.
During the meeting, Yuri Khmyzov, General Director of Makinsky Foundry and Mechanical Plant LLP, gave a presentation on the company and discussed its products.
The company was established in 2002 on the basis of the Stepnoye Mining and Geology Complex’s UPTOK (Unified Production and Technical Organization for Machinery and Equipment), which was created in 1956 to manufacture spare parts for drilling and mining exploration machinery. Currently, the plant has mechanical and assembly shops, small and large foundries, as well as a certified in-house laboratory.
Today, the company manufactures spare parts for railway rolling stock, products for construction equipment, formwork systems for monolithic construction, components for agricultural machinery, as well as grate bars for solid-fuel boilers.
Regular industry meetings held at the Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry allow companies to receive up-to-date information on government support measures, exchange experiences, and develop proposals for the further development of the machine-building industry.
