The Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry discussed mechanisms for protecting intellectual property in the industry

The Association of Kazakhstan Machinery Industry held its twelfth online meeting of 2026, attended by regional representatives, machine-building enterprises, and industry partners.

The meeting addressed issues related to the registration of trademarks, patents, and intellectual property protection in the Republic of Kazakhstan, which are of key importance for the development of the domestic machine-building industry and enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises.

Salim Amir, Chief Expert of the Patent Examination Department for Physics and Mechanical Engineering at the National Institute of Intellectual Property (Kazpatent), explained the procedure for filing a patent application, as well as the legal grounds for registering industrial property.

It was noted that the right to file an application and obtain a patent belongs to the authors of the developments, employers, and successors in title, as well as other persons in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Special attention was paid to the possibilities of accelerated patenting. This mechanism applies to inventions in priority areas, including information and communication technologies, environmental solutions aimed at reducing emissions, as well as developments in the field of medicine.

During the meeting, a patenting process was also presented, which includes conducting a preliminary patent search, preparing the application in accordance with legal requirements, interacting with the examining authority, and obtaining the patent.

A systematic approach to intellectual property protection is a key factor in fostering innovation in mechanical engineering.
