Kazakhstan automobile market showed growth

Sales in May this year (3663 units) exceeded last year’s value by 9.9%. The market for the first time demonstrated growth after a 29-month period of continuous decline in sales caused by the deterioration of the macroeconomic situation and the weakening of the national currency in 2014-2015, reported KazAvtoProm’s press service of the Kazakhstan Automobile Industry Union.

The volume of the market in value terms in May reached $ 96.6 million, exceeding the last year’s results by 57%.

According to current year’s January-May results, official dealers sold 14,682 cars, which is 16.9% lower than the same figure in 2016. From the results of the reporting period, Kazakhstanis spent $ 369.4 million to purchase new cars, which is 27% higher than the same figure in 2016.

10 187 cars (69.4%), sold within five months, were imported, while 4 495 customers (30.6%) chose the products of Kazakhstan car factories.

The rating of the most popular brands among Kazakhstan citizens following the results of the reporting period is headed by Toyota: for 5 months of 2017 3 088 cars of the Japanese brand were sold on the territory of the republic.

Sales of Lada models amounted to 2 541 units.

The third position was taken by Renault with the figure of 1,036 cars sold. The top five is closed by Ravon (1030 units) and KIA (970 units) respectively. The TOP-10 of the most successful brands also included Hyundai (920 units), GAZ (799 units), UAZ (644 units), Nissan (528 units) and Volkswagen (483 units).

In the rating of passenger models sedan Toyota Camry (1146 units), off-road car Lada 4×4 (861 units) and Toyota Rav4 (674 units) are in the lead. Ravon Nexia (669 units) and Lada Granta (616 units) are closing the TOP-5 list.

Among the models included in the top twenty consumer preferences, there are also Lada Largus (468 units), Toyota Land Cruiser 200 (422 units), Renault Duster (384 units), Volkswagen Polo (362 units), Hyundai Creta (351 units ), Renault Sandero (347 units), Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (333 units), Toyota Corolla (275 units), Lexus LX (241 units), Hyundai Tucson (222 units), KIA Rio (202 units) .), Ravon R4 (192 units), Hyundai Elantra (183 units), Nissan X-Trail (182 units) and Chevrolet Cruze (176 units).

The status of the largest dealer group in the market of Kazakhstan is reserved for holding BIPEK AUTO-ASIA AUTO. Following the results of the reporting period, 29.5% of all new car buyers (including LCV) opted for the offers of this group. 16.4% of the market was sold by KMC Astana Motors. Among the ten most notable participants of the Kazakhstan auto market were also Virage with a share of 9.1%, Toyota City Almaty (4.7%), Allur Auto (4.5%), Mercur Auto (3.1%), Toyota Center Zhetysu (2 , 6%), Aster Auto (2.5%), Ural-Krov (1.9%) and Lexus Almaty (1.7%).

The main activity in the acquisition of cars in current year’s January-May demonstrated residents of Almaty(3,716 cars sold), Astana (2,938 units), Atyrau (1,008 units), Shymkent (903 units), Karaganda (902 units), Kostanay (845 units), Ust- Kamenogorsk (675 units), Uralsk (663 units), Aktau (589 units) and Aktobe (516 units).
